Senior Paralegal

The Senior Paralegal will perform the following tasks, but not limited to:

*Works under the direction of the assigned Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA).

*Work products are reviewed prior to submission; however, often develops these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines.

*In addition to functions performed by Paralegals, performs moderately complex legal research; synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviews case related materials and, for example, identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation; writes preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence.

*Performs other related duties as assigned.
    
Required Qualifications:
*Excellent written and oral communication skills
*Paralegal certificate. An equivalent level of legal training may be substituted with the approval of the COR.
*At least two years of litigation paralegal experience required;
*At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.(i.e., Concordance, Relativity and/or similar applications).
*Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
*Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
*Ability to perform legal database research (Westlaw, Lexis, etc.) on identified issues.
*Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets (including Excel), imaging, and hardware systems.
*Familiarity and experience with processing, tagging, indexing, and organizing voluminous discovery, including documents, electronic communications, and audio and video recordings.
*Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.
*Familiarity and experience in assisting for preparation and conduct of trials, including preparing and organizing subpoenas for witness testimony and organizing and managing exhibits for presentation at trial.
*Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.  
*Some walking, standing, bending, moving documents and carrying small office items.
*Ability to obtain a security clearance.
*Must be a U.S. Citizen.
 Desired Skills:
*Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications.
