SQL Database Administrator

Job Duties:
  • Manage and administer enterprise production SQL Servers in a large scale high performance environment
  • Support internal clients of our kCura Relativity infrastructure and database servers;
  • Analyze and troubleshoot live production issues and resolve performance problems in coordination with other teams
  • Provide support of maintenance plans (including DBCC), backup, recovery, and refresh of development SQL Server databases;
  • Support development, test, and production SQL server instances
  • Ensure HA/DR of critical databases
  • Leverage experience in SQL Profiler and Extended Events
  • Work with other teams to ensure proper functioning/utilization of SQL clusters and backend SAN
  • Manage database backups, recovery procedures and testing, and data replication processes
  • Provide general production support, including trouble shooting, performance tuning and monitoring, etc.
  • Document and automate processes
  • Own, track and resolve data platform related incidents and requests
  • Fulfill requests and resolve incidents within predefined SLAs
  • Respond to database related alerts and escalations
  • Assist in designing and maintaining all SQL Server database systems;
  • Assist in the design and planning of the database schemas to support new and existing applications, technologies and security, and thereafter play a key role in the maintenance of the tools and systems;
  • Administer, optimize and maintain SQL Server 2008 r2 and newer database environments running on Windows platforms;
  • Diagnose SQL Server database issues, including performance and data integrity issues;
  • Planning/advisory/validation of all database installations, patches and upgrades;
  • Provide database monitoring, space management, and support;
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) reports and projects;
  • Provide support to legal and financial advisory teams when deploying advanced analytics technology to understand tens of terabytes of SQL data to help resolve issues that are on the front page of the Wall Street Journal and that impact global financial markets;
  • Provide support ensuring mission critical resources are always available and responding with desired service levels;
  • Contribute to product development by interfacing with development resources, internal and external stakeholders.
    Required:
  • Experience administering SQL Server and working knowledge using 2008 r2 or newer;
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate field;
  • Knowledge and experience in identifying, diagnosing and remediating database performance issues;
  • Experience with multi-TB SQL Databases;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Strong communication skills and self-starter attitude with a strong ability to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking with minimal supervision 
    Desired:
  • Five plus years as a DBA in a SQL server environment
  • 5 years in Relativity a plus
  • Ability to prioritize Operations and Maintenance, as well as support project related tasks.
  • SSIS development experience for automation of tasks, a plus
  • Comfortable working with developers, systems administrators and management
  • SSIS development experience for automation of tasks, a plus
  • Familiarity with SSAS and SSRS, a plus
  • Experience in large scale SQL Server management and implementations
