This is a temporary to permanent hire Service Contract Act position with an hourly pay rate of $27.75 that includes a Health and Welfare Benefit of $4.41 an hour.

Service  Contract Act, or SCA, position pay rates are determined by the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division.

Upon completion of six (6) months of employment, the selected candidate can expect an annual salary as a permanent full-time employee with the federal contractor.

Period of Performance: 

Start date, upon completion of security clearance, possibly through May 31,2023

Normal work operations:  40 hours per week, Monday-Friday (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.), with the exception of federal holidays, unless otherwise stated

Paralegal/ Legal Assistant I
  • *Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • *Requires Paralegal certificate, or currently attending an ABAaccredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study
    • *One (1) year of legal training or legal experience or at least two (2) years of college education may be substituted for the Paralegal certificate
  • *At least one (1) year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience
  • *Must have basic legal knowledge, including knowledge of standard legal citation to cite check legal motions and memorandum and must have sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research
  • *Thorough knowledge and handson familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems
  • *Role also requires basic familiarity with Electronically Stored Information tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
  • *Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important
  • *Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • *Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:
  • *Blue Book cite checking, citations
  • *Experience working in a government and/or litigation support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications, preferred
  • *Automated litigation support experience
  • *Experience with Relativity, valued, 2-3 years of experience in document review
  • *Trial experience very helpful
  • *Experience in supporting fraud cases, preferred
  • *Current or active clearance

Paralegal/ Legal Assistant I

Typical assignments include the following but not limited to:
  • Works under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal, Project Supervisor and/or designated personnel
  • Performs the following tasks while complying with established procedures: compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents
  • Summarizes depositions and other transcripts;  Maintains case files
  • Performs simple legal research; indexes, tracks and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery)
  • Indexes, tracks and exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial
  • Prepares exhibit crossreferences;  Assists attorneys in courtroom
  • Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria
  • Other examples of the types of work to be performed include compilation of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc.
The above-mentioned duties may be performed as single functions or in combination with one another.
